Rotator Cuff Strengthening Exercises
Glenohumeral Instability
Rehabilitation of Overhead Athletes
The rotator cuff is a very important muscle group for overhead athletes as it stabilizes the glenohumeral head in the shoulder socket. Making sure these muscles are stromg is key to staying healthy.
This study discusses how gleohumeral instability (due to rotator cuff weakness) affects arm pain. The study found that athletes with glenohumeral instability and hypermobility demonstrated increased arm pain.
This study talks about the principles of rehabing an overhead athlete. It states that interventions must be specific to the deficiencies of the athlete that prohibit them from getting their body in proper position as well as the necessary muscular strength required to sustain the amount of force that an overhead athlete produces.
